The recently recognized phenomenon known as “bystander apathy” is tragically spreading, which involves the people standing nearby crime and do nothing, knowing of grave consequences in front of them. A number of videos are being posted on internet with severe violence and even killings, while the bystanders keeping making the videos to be posted on their channels for adventure.

The freedom of expression has resulted in a new wave of a virtual nonexistent censorship. Contributing to it are people sharing these videos on Whatsapp, Youtube and like channels without even knowing the impact on society. Practically anything conceivable can be filmed and shown on the screen. Majority of top rated games and movies repeatedly show violence, extreme aggression, and sex and drugs, as essential part of their stories.

TV, Movies and Games have developed into multi-billion industries. The main aim is to make money regardless of consequences. There is an ever increasing violence in our society owing to movies and games which we witness on the roads, in schools and in our daily lives.

Many detailed studies of human behavior have clearly shown the impact of manipulated and even engineered advertisements, trying to change the people’s basic values and decisions.

The current Media ethics parallels valor with violence and makes hero’s with violent and aggressive behaviors. This subsequently is leading to depression and mental derailment amongst all ages.

It is not easy to get away with this media-controlled world, but at least we have to try to save this mind-controlling for our kids by constant discussions about right vs wrong, limiting their exposure to such games, movies and print media and keeping a close watch on their activities.
