The COVID-19 pandemic has developed a sense of uncertainty, shock and unease about a new disease and insecurity of what could happen is overwhelming. The response to control the spreading virus, resulted in stringent reaction from the international health agencies as well as the local governments. Lock downs, social distancing, and fear has resulted in people feeling isolated and unsecured.

The response to this stress depends on people originating from different social backgrounds, financial situations, and emotional states. Stress and anxiety can often cause:

  • Concerns about your own health and the health of your loved ones.
  • Loss of job and/or loss of support services.
  • Insecurity about future.
  • Change in emotional state due to confinement
  • Change in physical health due to alteration in sleep or eating patterns.
  • Increased use of tobacco, and/or alcohol.

Stay alive and healthy;

  1. Revert to basics; it’s a good time to unwind and be with your family. Get in touch with your friends.
  2. Eat some healthy food, cooked at home.
  3. Get optimum sleep
  4. Take some time out and meditate.
  5. Rejuvenate your faith.
  6. Be creative and get some additional knowledge or skill online.
  7. Help others in need
